ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL OF STUDENTS
Our school hours are from 8:45 a.m. until 3:15
p.m. For the safety of your child, please do not send him/her to school
before 8:30 a.m. Teachers are not on duty until 8:30; thus, there is
no supervision for students who arrive before the designated arrival
time. There are several day care businesses in the area for parents
who need before and/or after school care. Elementary age children
cannot be left alone to supervise themselves. It is the parent’s
responsibility to provide for their child’s safety prior to 8:30 a.m.
Dismissal will begin at 3:15 p.m. following
afternoon announcements. Unless there is an emergency, please do not
come to the office to sign out your child prior to dismissal.
Teachers are engaged in teaching until 3:10 p.m. The teachers and
students are busy reviewing homework assignments, packing needed books,
papers, and supplies until 3:10 p.m.. Thus, we will not interrupt
classes unless there is an emergency.
When there is a justifiable reason for your child
to be dismissed early, please send a note to the classroom teacher in
the morning or give the secretary a written reason for the early
dismissal upon your arrival.
With the exception of Mrs. Muhler’s
Pre-kindergarten students and the two kindergarten classes, ALL students
will be dismissed through the FRONT DOORS of the building.
Please do not block the front door exit when
waiting for your child to be dismissed. We need to keep the walkway
clear for students to exit the building safely. Thank you!
FRONT
DRIVEWAY
PLEASE DO NOT USE THE FRONT DRIVEWAY TO
DROP OFF/PICK UP STUDENTS. THIS DRIVEWAY IS DESIGNATED “FOR BUSES
ONLY”. It has become necessary to take assign staff members to block
traffic from entering the bus loop during arrival and dismissal. If
everyone cooperates with this regulation, teachers/staff can devote this
time to children.
BUS STOP RULES
As always, the Transportation Department requires
that students be at their designated bus stop five (5) minutes before
the bus is due to pick them up. Students/parents may not change a bus
or bus stop without talking with Ms. Dembeck and getting her approval
for the change. Students must form an orderly line at the bus stop.
Infractions of the Student Behavior Handbook at the bus stop are subject
to suspension.
EMERGENCY INFORMATION
Baltimore County Public Schools takes student
safety very seriously. We need your help to ensure your child is kept
safe in the event of severe illness, accident, school closing, etc.
Each year parents/guardians are required to complete one white and one
yellow card with parent contact information. At least three other
contact names and phone numbers are needed in the event we cannot
reach the parent/guardian. Each name listed must have a different
phone number! Last, it is of greatest importance that this information
be kept current!
EMERGENCY CLOSING
In the event that our students must leave Victory
Villa school site, our first save haven is Middle River Middle School.
In the event we cannot walk directly to Middle River Middle School, our
second safe location is the Victory Villa Community Center which
is located on Compass Road by the corner of Martin Boulevard and Compass
Road.
Lastly, if the area is being evacuated, all
students, faculty, and staff will be bussed to the Community College
of Baltimore County---Essex Campus (formerly Essex Community
College) on Rossville Boulevard.
In any emergency or non-emergency, students will
only be dismissed to their parents or adults listed on the back of the
emergency card. Thus, it is important for you to list all names and
contact numbers of people that you would want to protect your child in
the event you cannot be located or reach the location where your child
is waiting.
VISITORS
PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT ALL VISITORS MUST
REPORT TO THE SCHOOL OFFICE AND SIGN IN. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS!
“Visitors” include everyone except enrolled students, staff, and
faculty.
BREAKFAST AND LUNCH
Our school will continue to serve breakfast to
students who select to make use of this service. The cost of breakfast
is $1.40 or $.30 for students who qualify for a reduced meal. Students
have a fifteen minute window to eat breakfast prior to the commencement
of the school day.
Kindergarten through grade five students eat lunch
in the cafeteria each day. Students are expected to demonstrate the
same manners in eating, cleanliness, and volume of voice that they would
if they were dining in a public restaurant. We insist that students DO
NOT share food. This rule is necessary for health reasons to benefit
all children.
The cafeteria serves student lunches at the cost of
$2.50. Reduced priced lunches for qualifying students are $.40. Please
fill out an application immediately if your family wants to be
considered for the Free and Reduced Meal Program.
STUDENT BEHAVIOR HANDBOOK
Each student will receive a BCPS Student
Behavior Handbook. There is one version for our primary students
and one for the intermediate students. After the students have received
an orientation to this handbook, the students are to read the
handbook with the parent/guardian. Students and parents
must sign and return the Acknowledgement Form in the handbook to the
principal. In addition, there is a new “opt out” form for military
and college recruiters that must also be signed. (It is on the back of
the Acknowledgement Form)
PROPER DRESS
In keeping with the same philosophy of Middle River
Middle School, we want to maintain a school that is focused on
learning. Thus, before your child leaves for school, one should ask if
the outfit would be acceptable in the world of work. Even in the hot
weather, students need to come to school with their body covered in a
modest fashion
-
Skirts, dresses, or shorts need to be fingertip
length
-
No undergarments should be exposed
-
Tops need to cover the midriff and should not
be strapless, tank tops, or muscle tee shirts
-
Avoid clothing and other items depicting
messages about drugs, alcohol, sex, violence and/or foul language
-
Shoes need to suitable for physical education,
outdoor recess, and provide for foot safety
-
No hats, scarves, or bandannas are to be worn
inside the building.
If your child wears an inappropriate outfit to
school, we will call you to bring appropriate clothes for them.
Expensive jewelry and electronic devices/headsets
should be kept at home.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

volunteer, is worth more than gold. Your child or grandchild will be so
proud to know you are helping at their school. Sign up to be a
